SADO - How to Identify & Effectively Use Clients' Intellectual Disability (Part II)

Time: May 21, 2024 - 12-1:30pm
Location: Zoom

Please join us for this virtual lunchtime training on May 21st with Attorney/Capital Mitigation Specialist, Juliet Yackel, on Working with Intellectually Disabled Clients - Part II.

Intellectual disability has been used successfully in criminal cases to achieve lower sentences, suppress statements, and much more. Nevertheless, persons with intellectual disability often go to great lengths to hide their disability – even from their lawyers – due to shame and embarrassment.

At this training, attendees will learn how to effectively document ID, educate relevant parties about ID (particularly judges or prosecutors who may have difficulties getting past stereotypes & misconception), and tell the client's story in a way that promotes positive outcomes.

Attorney-focused trainings are scheduled for the third Tuesday of the month, and investigator-focused trainings are scheduled for the first Thursday of the month. Of course, anyone who works on a defense team is welcome at any training. And if you miss a session, everything will be recorded and posted to the video archive.

**This is the second part of a two-part training. Part I was held on 4/16/24. Even if you attended Part I, you must register separately for Part II. **
